Pratap Raju (Bachelor in Electronic & Telecom Engineering, MBA), born in Bangalore, grew up in ten different Indian cities. He is an Electronics Engineer (JNTU, Hyderabad) with an MBA (Symbiosis, Pune) and was granted a Dutch Govt. fellowship in 1990 for a post-graduate program in The Netherlands. Pratap has more than 25 years of business and consultancy experience in 3 continents (Asia, Europe, North America) and 9 sectors. He started his career in the technology sector in India and moved to Europe in 1992 and held global businesss development positions with international food and technology companies in the Netherlands and Italy. In 2001, Pratap co-founded Abroader Concultancy and works since then on investment, trade and partnership opportunities for clients in Asia (including India), Europe and North America. He represented the Province of British Columbia (Canada) in India (2009-12) for their Trade and Investment Services in technology and innovation.

Carin Rustema (MSc.) holds a Masters degree from the University of Amsterdam (Communication Science) and two post-graduate diplomas in Brand Management and Business Economics (University Groningen, Netherlands). Carin has more than 17 years of international business and consultancy experience in various sectors. She started her career in the international food and service industry in Europe, where she worked for 6 years for reputed HRM, Telecom, Energy, Insurance and Market Research Firms. She co-founded Abroader Consultancy in India in 2001. With almost 20 years of international experience, she is responsible for the European market and works with team of consultants and associates in India to handle client requirements. Carin is since 2002 a Senior Visiting Lecturer at the biggest Tourism Management university in the world (based in the Netherlands) and is the co-author of the book Corporate Communication Worldwide. She is the founding member of the India Netherlands Business Circle (Bangalore) and is a member of the Agri-Food Processing Expert Committee of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Edwin Katerberg (BBA), Principal Business Consultant (CURRENTLY BASED OUT OF DUBAI) Edwin was born and raised in the Netherlands and completed his Bachelor of Business Administration (European Studies) at The Hague University (the Netherlands). Since his graduation, he lived and worked in 6 different countries and has over 17 years of international work and management experience, including 15 years full time in (South) India. Edwin is specialized in establishing new (Indian) business ventures, setting up production units, (export) supply chains, international sales teams and agricultural companies – from farm to fork. His main professional focus has been on India where he has spent 15 years on sharpening his skills in quality management, production management, international logistics, import and export regulations, international marketing, trade representation activities, licensing, general management of production units and service industries. He worked for various foreign investors and firms in the Gherkin and Food industry and was, before he entered the consultancy business, previously the director in a newly set up green field project in the South of India for 4 years, invested in by a Belgium company. Throughout his career, Edwin had ample opportunity to navigate his way through local, state and national Indian government bodies and established professional working relations with multiple stakeholders, including Member Associations, Trade and Export Bodies, regulatory entities and educational institutions. His strong and active network in India, and skills to interact on a management level with both foreign and Indian stakeholders, have helped him to print a permanent foot on the ground in India. Brian D’Souza (BCom, MBA), born and brought in India, holds a bachelor degree in Commerce and an MBA (Marketing and Finance) from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, one of India’s reputed business schools (Pune). He has over 25 years of finance and investment experience across 17 sectors in India and is exposed to a large network of Indian businesses (mid- to large scale), being based out of Mumbai – the financial capital of India. Brian started his career with the Consumer Service Group of Citibank. After this, he joined the American Express Bank (Head Quarters, Mumbai) for 5 years, and helped setting up a boutique investment bank for one of the largest – cash rich – corporate in India. In 1995, Brian became an independent consultant, working on growth capital for scalable Indian businesses, raising capital from India and/or through overseas instruments. Till date, he rose more than 300 Million UDS of funding for his clients and established a direct relationship with one of India’s largest private individual investor – who is currently exposed to over a Billion Dollars of investment in India. He provided services to companies in various sectors, including (Micro) Finance, Security, Infrastructure, IT Services, Aviation, Food Processing, Personal Care, Retail, Clean Technology, Energy, Education, Automotive, Media & Entertainment, Marine/Shipping, Logistics & Transport, Manufacturing. Brian has worked with companies in the USA, Germany, France, Netherlands, UK, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Abu Dhabi. He speaks fluent English and Hindi and has a good understanding of German, Tamil and Marathi.


Ajay Bhaskar (BA Honours Economics, Masters in Management Studies), Independent Consultant Ajay grew up in various Indian cities – he studied for a BA Honours in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University and for a Masters in Management Studies in Marketing from S P Jain Institute of Mangement and Research, Mumbai – one of India’s premier universities. His career spans 21 years in management, sales, marketing strategy and advertising in India, Australia and Singapore. Ajay started his career in sales in the office automation sector in Delhi and Mumbai before moving on to Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as a media planner in Bangalore for four years. In this role, he created media strategies for brands across industries including for Titan (watches), IBM, Unilever (beverages / cosmetics / foods), TVS Motors, Madura Garments among others. Subsequently, he headed the Bangalore office for Madison Communication in Bangalore for two years overseeing brands like BPL (consumer durables / telecom) and Tata Tea (beverages) overseeing a large team. He then moved to Australia where he worked at OMD Sydney for over four years as Account Director on brands including Arnotts Campbells (biscuits / confectionery / foods) and NSW Lotteries. He was at OMD Singapore for under a year before returning to Bangalore in 2006. Since then, he is an independent business and communication consultant and has worked across industries including media and entertainment, industrial goods, textiles, foods, real estate, apparels and the social sector for clients in India and abroad. His interest areas include developing strategies to solve problems relating to marketing, design, advertising, communication and research. Ajay is also a professional photographer and graphic designer. He is fluent in English and Hindi.



Akshara Walia, Business Consultant Akshara was born and brought up in Delhi, India. She has completed her Bachelors of Business Studies (BBA) from Delhi University (DU) and is a post-graduate student of the Breda University of Applied Science – The Netherlands. Akshara commenced her career with a MNC specializing in Market Research- Synovate Business Consulting (now part of Ipsos) in 2009 as a Graduate Trainee and was promoted to Associate Consultant within a year. As part of a key management consulting firm, she was involved with national and international client based across the globe- most prominently in the Middle East, Turkey, India, Japan and Australia. She has been strongly involved in all aspects of the consulting process including desk and primary based research, in-depth project analysis and strategic recommendations. She has worked on projects ranging from competitive benchmarking, market entry and top line market analysis. In 2011, she commenced her Masters in tourism destination management (Breda University of Applied Science – the Netherlands) in order to develop a specialization in the field. As part of the course she has also actively applied herself in depth field research across three Asia Pacific destinations. She conducted multi-stakeholder research in Australia, Thailand and Indonesia and prepared advisory reports on destination development, marketing and issues. Akshara has been exposed to different tourism based environments and has dealt with different components of the value chain in order to obtain a specialized understanding of a destination. She recently started working on consulting projects for Dutch clients – identifying market entrance barriers in order to prepare market entrance for India. With Abroader, she has been actively involved in intensive research for international projects in diverse sectors including tourism, consumer durables, security, healthcare and education. Her technical skills include a working knowledge of MS Office and a high comfort level with the internet. She is also comfortable with newer presentation formats like Prezi. Akshara is fluent in English and Hindi and has studied basic Spanish.
