Client Requirement: The client was looking at entering India as a destination for inbound and outbound investment, technology collaborations and innovation in 6 key sectors. Through a competitive tender, our company won the 3-year contract and executed the programme with a dedicated team of 6 professionals, including the appointment of the Trade & Investment Representative.

Services provided: 

We launched the Canadian province in the Indian market by setting up their first Trade and Investment Office and Business Incubation Centre in Bangalore. For this, we recruited the local team, set up their office, managed their annual budgets and operational finances. After the BC’s Premier’s trade mission to India in 2012 and three years of executing these services, we decided to officially hand-over the full operation to a new contracting party – as contractually agreed.

During a course of three years, our team, we were able to surpass the targeted benchmarks. We introduced approximately 150 Canadian companies to the Indian market, signed around 50 business deals, developed an extensive outbound investment pipeline and signed 10 technology and innovation partnerships. We achieved this through a proactive approach towards business development, focused on actively engaging mid and large size Indian firms in emerging business opportunities. With a strong focus towards mobilising and motivating the private sector (around 30 trade missions and 65 trade shows, conferences and seminars in 5 Indian cities organised in three years), we proved that a proactive and opportunity driven attitude towards international business benefits all stakeholders, in terms of job creation, economic development and sustainable market growth.
